We Saved Your Place
Let’s be honest about something. Most of you don’t read long stories anymore. You watch. You listen. You catch a podcast on the drive to work.
We’ve noticed, and we’re changing with you.
More and more of our coverage is going to look like this: a short setup, then the meetings themselves, in order, on video. No one standing between you and what was said. You watch it and you decide.
That means a lot of clips, sometimes dozens in a single story. Nobody watches all of them in one sitting, so we built these stories to remember where you were.
Open a clip and it gets a green “Watched” badge. A bar near the top keeps count, “You’ve watched 12 of 38,” and a “Pick up where you left off” button takes you straight to the next one you haven’t seen. “Start over” wipes the slate.
Your place is saved in your own browser. It never comes to us, and we couldn’t see it if we wanted to. That also means it stays on that device: start on your phone and finish on your laptop, and you’ll start fresh.
You’ll see that bar on every video-heavy story from here on. Tap the little question mark in its corner for a quick how-to.
Tell us what works and what doesn’t. This is new for us too.
And while you’re at it, tell us anything else. There’s an Email link at the bottom of every page, and now Johnny Diamond has his own, right under his byline. Tips, complaints, corrections, a meeting we missed. It comes straight to us, and we read all of it.
We want to talk to you.
